The Twitter Trail
Concept In Brief
With a strong nostalgic shout out to The Oregon Trail, a game that has brought American history to millions of students around the world, comes a new text-based adventure game, The Twitter Trail. Any citizen interested in history, politics, and the well-being of humanity will love this nostalgic throwback. In this game you are responsible for taking a tweet across 2800 miles of plains, rivers, and mountains from Washington, DC to San Francisco, CA. Give it your best try. On the plains, will you slosh your tweet through nonsensical news pundits and hate-filled echo chambers or will you plod through democratic principles centuries deep?
Gameplay
The game starts when you select a historical American tweet that you will guide across the Twitter Trail, with the option to randomly generate another tweet from an array of curated, historical American tweets. You then choose a background profession - a Reality TV Star, Real Estate Mogul, or the President - and the time of day you’d like to start you journey. Once the tweet is posted, you lead the tweet across the United States, and when a tweet reaches one of seven quintessential American landmarks, you must successfully choose the right decision in order to continue along the Twitter Trail. The decisions vary, but can include things like hunting for words and phrases, shopping, supporting democratic principles, trading information, and seeking/ignoring advice from locals, among other things. If your tweet makes it to San Francisco, you win.
